Job Description:
Job Description Job Description Bankruptcy Associate 2-4 years
of experience $220k-$250k Hybrid 3 days in Office Los Angeles, CA
You've spent the last few years in the trenches of Chapter 11 and
restructuring work. You like complexity, you like being close to
the business issues, and you're ready to step into a role where you
are not just a cog on a giant team; you are trusted to think,
strategize, and lead. This opportunity is with a highly respected,
mid-sized, full-service firm with a national reputation for
sophisticated bankruptcy, restructuring, and business litigation
work. The firm is known for its entrepreneurial culture, lean
staffing, and direct client contact for associates, including
significant exposure to high-profile and middle-market matters
across industries. This position is hybrid: attorneys work 3 days
per week in the office and 2 days remotely, with an emphasis on
collaboration, training, and flexibility. The Role You will join a
busy, collaborative bankruptcy and restructuring practice handling:
Chapter 11 and other bankruptcy proceedings for debtors, creditors,
trustees, and other parties in interest. Out-of-court
restructurings, loan workouts, and assignments for the benefit of
creditors. Purchase and sale of distressed assets, including
going-concern and 363-style transactions. Related litigation,
including contested matters, adversary proceedings, and
coverage/priority disputes. Matters spanning real estate,
entertainment, manufacturing, retail, and other industry sectors.
You will be staffed on lean teams where your judgment and voice
matter. You'll draft key pleadings, argue in court (as ready),
negotiate with opposing counsel, and work closely with partners who
are invested in your development. What You'll Do Represent debtors,
creditors, trustees, and committees in Chapter 11 and other
insolvency matters. Handle day-to-day case management: research,
drafting, hearings preparation, and client communications. Assist
with out-of-court restructurings and workouts, including distressed
loans and capital structures. Work on assignments for the benefit
of creditors and other state-law insolvency alternatives. Support
distressed M&A and asset sales, including diligence,
documentation, and closing. Take ownership of projects and interact
directly with sophisticated business and financial clients. What
Were Looking For 2–4 years of substantive bankruptcy and
restructuring experience at a law firm. Solid exposure to Chapter
11 practice (representing debtors, creditors, trustees, or
committees). Experience with at least some of the following:
Out-of-court restructurings and workouts Assignments for the
benefit of creditors Loan workouts and forbearance agreements
Distressed asset sales and related transactions Bankruptcy or
restructuring-related litigation Strong writing and analytical
skills; comfortable drafting motions, objections, briefs, and
related documents. Someone proactive, business-minded, and
energized by working on small, high-impact teams. Why This Role
Stands Out Hybrid schedule with meaningful flexibility while
preserving in-person collaboration and training. Meaningful
responsibility early on with client-facing opportunities, not just
back-office drafting. A tight-knit team that values mentorship,
collaboration, and long-term growth. Access to complex, interesting
matters involving real estate, entertainment, manufacturing, and
retail clients. A platform that combines high-end work with a more
balanced, humane environment than other larger firms. If you are a
bankruptcy/restructuring associate who wants to do sophisticated
work, be visible to clients and partners, and grow your skills in a
supportive and entrepreneurial environment, we'd like to hear from
you.
